The Coherence Cycle: A Cross-Scale Process Model of Stabilisation, Destabilisation, and Reorganisation in Human Systems
This paper introduces the Coherence Cycle as a practical process model for understanding how human systems move through coherence, decoherence, and recoherence across personal, relational, organisational, and wider systemic contexts.
The central argument is simple: disruption is not always failure. In many cases, it is part of how living systems reorganise. The key question is whether we can recognise phase accurately enough to respond with proportion, timing, and care.
The paper draws on dynamical systems theory, allostatic load, predictive processing, process-based therapy, and adaptive-cycle thinking, while aiming to remain usable for real-world practice.
